Film Basics
35 mm film is the basic film gauge most commonly used for both still photography and motion pictures.
The gauge is remarkably versatile in application. In the past one hundred years, it has been modified to include sound, redesigned to create a safer film base, formulated to capture color, has accommodated a bevy of widescreen formats, and has incorporated digital sound data into nearly all of its non-frame areas.
Reel Info
It takes an amazing amount of film to make a movie. You can get 16 frames on 1 foot of film. Movie projectors move the film at a speed of 24 frames per second, so it takes 1.5 feet of film to create every single second of a movie.
A typical two-hour movie has over two miles of film! Because a feature length film is so long, distributors roll the film onto reels for shipping. A two hour film can have five to six reels.
Popcorn Scoop
AmericanPlace Movies uses only the highest quality popcorn. It is popped in the best quality popping oil, Odell's Classic Blend, and the finest tasting buttery popcorn salt.
